World Music/CRASHarts is currently seeking applicants for temporary, unpaid Development, Marketing, and Box Office Interns.

Development Associate

POSITION OVERVIEW

Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, World Music/CRASHarts (WM/CA) seeks an enthusiastic development professional to assist with all aspects of the organization’s fundraising and communication efforts.  The Development Associate provides administrative support to the Director of Development in the areas of membership acquisition, individual giving, special events, corporate and foundation giving, and data management.  The Development Associate plays a key role in helping WM/CA reach its annual fundraising goals by growing its membership program through direct mail and email solicitations, research, stewardship, and social media communications.  This position has high growth potential for a self-starting and entrepreneurial person with strong administrative skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Membership and Individual Giving:

  • Implement a comprehensive direct mail, email, and social media solicitation strategy for membership acquisition and individual giving programs
  • Assist with concept creation and execution of giving appeals and stewardship pieces
  • Process and acknowledge donations, and administer membership benefits
  • Conduct research of individual donors
  • Assist with the preparation of development reports and Board communications
  • Maintain online development presence for WM/CA website and develop social media communications
  • Assist with implementation of fundraising and member events
  • Assist with design, production, and publication of all development-related publications
  • Attend and staff events and meetings as requested

Corporate and Foundation Giving:

  • Research and assist with preparation of foundation, corporate and government grant proposals
  • Track grant submissions and final reports

Other Administrative Duties:

  • Provide optimum customer service to members, donors, volunteers and ticket buyers
  • Support Box Office staff in ticket sales
  • Maintain and update donor/membership records in database, provide data reports as requested
  • Track website, email and social media response rates and usage
  • Oversee volunteer management and stewardship
  • Other duties and administrative support as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A commitment to excellence and to the mission of WM/CA
  • 2-3 years of work experience in fundraising, marketing, or administration preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills, resourcefulness, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact with a diverse constituency
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel and PowerPoint and a talent for working with databases (data input, manipulating data, creating reports, etc.)
  • Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team in a hands-on environment
  • An affinity for social media and online research tools
  • Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Respect for confidentiality and ethical practices

Internship - Development 

This position of Development Intern offers exposure to all areas of working in a non-profit arts organization including development research and fundraising, event planning, marketing and administration. Proven organizational abilities, writing and oral communication skills, creativity and computer literacy are essential. Leading candidates will have attention to detail, appreciation for the arts and the ability to work well within a small, non-profit organization. Attendance at concerts is an added benefit for interns.

Responsibilities include: *Assist with music festival planning, sponsorship soliciation, and production for CRASHfest *Assist with coordination of donor communication and campaigns *Create and analyze social media campaigns for membership solicitations and post-concert feedback *Conduct prospect research and update donor profiles in database *Research and identify businesses for program ad solicitations *Assist with database input and creating mail lists *Facilitate ticket giveaways and premium tracking *Other responsibilities as assigned. The successful candidate will have the following skills: *Highly organized, energetic, with exceptional attention to detail *Excellent written and proof reading skills *Good communication and social media skills *Must be able work independently, show initiative and be a problem-solver *Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, interest in learning database management skills.

Internship - Marketing

The Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator and Director of Marketing to implement many aspects of the marketing plan and publicity campaigns for an annual series of concerts. This intern position offers exposure to all areas of arts marketing - promotion, public relations and administration. Proven organizational abilities, writing and oral communication skills, creativity and computer literacy is essential. Leading candidates will have a sense of adventure, appreciation for the arts and the ability to work well within a small organization.

Responsibilities include: * Assist in the coordination of press and publicity direct mail campaigns * Maintain media support materials including photos, slides and CDs * Create program notes for concerts, dependent upon computer abilities * Supervise in-office volunteers * Conduct community outreach research, coordinate mailings and flyer distribution * Facilitate radio promotions and ticket giveaways * Other responsibilities as assigned • Note: This internship is flexible. Responsibilities can be custom-tailored to intern’s interests and skills. The successful candidate will have the following skills: * Highly organized, energetic and articulate with exceptional attention to detail * Excellent written and proof reading skills * An ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure. Must be able to take initiative and being a problem-solver * Working knowledge of Windows and Word * A background in graphic design a plus.

Internship - Box Office

We are seeking a person to help out in our Box Office, assist with phone traffic, receive phone orders, and help maintain our database. This person will also be asked to help with all of our concerts on an automated ticketing system, take ticket orders, help handle member seating assignments and member services throughout the season, and provide reports to management as needed.  Presence at concerts is encouraged & may be requested from time to time.

The overall responsibility of the Box Office Internship is to help ensure the effective and smooth running of a small but very busy box office. The successful candidate will have the following: * Good organizational skills and the ability to handle many tasks at once. Must be able to take initiative and be a problem-solver. * Pleasant, friendly manner and a sincere commitment to customer service * Prior Box Office/ Ticketing/ or Office Assistant experience is helpful * Familiarity and experience of live performances & of the arts are a plus * Working knowledge of Windows, MS Excel, MS Word * Other responsibilities as assigned  * Ability to be in the office up to 2 days a week during our Fall Season
