Alloy Orchestra presents brilliant live musical accompaniment for this exceptional silent film. Varieté is a dark tale of love, deception, revenge, and redemption set in the circus. Directed by E. A. Dupont and starring acting great Emil Jannings (the very first recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actor) and Lya de Putti, this rarely seen film has just been rereleased with an impeccable new restoration. Breathtaking cinematography by Karl W. Freund (who later shot Metropolis), dizzying circus scenes, and a stark dramatic plot provide the basis for one of Alloy Orchestra’s most memorable performances.

This film is being presented as a double feature with The Black Pirate at 4pm. You have the option to purchase tickets to a single film for $25 or to both films as a double feature for $35. To purchase double feature tickets, please place both films in your shopping cart, and your tickets will be automatically discounted upon check out.
